The inkatrail used to conecct the most important cities along the Inkan Empire, on this amazing hike where you may hike some 5 to 7 hours a day, getting to altitudes of even 4780 m (15682 feet), over impressive look-outs enjoying mesmerizing vistas from the snow capped mountains and many beautiful lakes among the Inkan Valleys.
Day 01: Cusco – Calca – Lares Hot Springs – Concany
We leave from Cusco early in the morning by bus and travel through the Sacred Valley arriving to Lares Hot Springs and spend the morning relaxing our bodies in the medicinal waters of the local Hot Springs, after Lunch we have our firs two hours hike until get our first Campsite.
Day 02: Concany – Ipsaycocha
After continuing up through the Valley, we arrive to the Community of Huacawasi. People here produce some of the finest weavings in Peru. Here we can observe their great skills and brilliant techniques in the manufacturing of ponchos and other garments.
Passing the village we begin climbing up to Condor Pass, the second of the trip at 4100m (13450 feet). From here we catch a stunning view of the renowned Mount Veronica at 5750m (18864 feet) Descending gently for about one hour, we come to the beautiful Ispsaycocha Lake, our last Campsite.
Day 03: Ipsaycocha – Patacancha – Huylloc – Pumamarka – Ollantaytambo – Aguas Calientes
After breakfast, we descend into the famous Sacred Valley of the Inkas, but before we pass by the pintoresque town of willoc where we have lunch, from here takes some two hours to arrive to Pumamarka and enjoy the farming terraces used by the ancient people in the area, finally we arrive to Ollantaytambo located next to the fertile Urubamba river and sheltered by massive mountains. This is a perfect place to appreciate the vast archeological remains and a wide variety of flowers and birds species in the area.
We also invite you to walk by the great Inka fortress of Ollantaytambo, where the Inkas led by Manco Inka where able to defeat to the Spanish conquistadors for the first time.
Once in Ollantaytambo with the help of your guide locate the white God carved on the rock. Transfer to your Hotel in the Sacred Valley. Drive to the train station to catch the night train to Aguas Calientes. Upon your arrival, pick up and transfer to your Hotel.
Day 04: Aguas Calientes – Machupicchu – Cusco
Pick up from your Hotel and after taking the bus for 25 minutes you will arrive to the Great Inka citadel of Machu Picchu, one of the New Wonders of the World. We will take you on a private guided visit through the streets and get to unveil the mysteries of the only Inka city ever found by the Spanish conquistadors, learn more about its history and how it was discovered by the American sociologist Hiram Bingham in 1911, explore the streets and places known as the Temple of the Sun, The Shrine of Mother Earth, The quarries, the sundial or Intihuatana, among others.
Afternoon journey by train to return to Ollantaytambo, pick-up on private transportation and return to Cusco.
